SYTA Membership Information
SYTA has recently changed the criteria for full membership to come in line with current industry standards. The diploma teacher training offered by the Satyananda Yoga Academy (SYA) has been in place for ten years and it is this level of training that has now been adopted as the minimum entry requirement for all Satyananda Yoga teachers resident in Australia who wish to join SYTA as a full member.
Current SYTA full members are not affected by this change providing their membership is maintained.
Full Membership
Full membership is open to all persons who teach yoga in the Satyananda Yoga tradition and are resident in Australia, who agree to abide by the SYTA Code of Ethics and Code of Practice and have a Satyananda Yoga Academy (SYA) Diploma (or equivalence) and/or have SYA level 2 Accreditation (or equivalence). The new criteria provides access to full SYTA membership for those who do not have a Diploma and those who are not SYA level 2 accredited but have equivalence to either of these standards. Equivalence will be determined by Satyananda Yoga Academy.
A period of transition is in place until 30th June 2012. During this period, full SYTA Membership is also open to:
1. all persons who teach yoga in the Satyananda Yoga tradition and are resident in Australia, who agree to abide by the SYTA Code of Ethics and Code of Practice and who satisfy the requirements of the Training and Experience Matrix but do not have an SYA Diploma or who do not have SYA accreditation .
2. all SYA level 1 accredited teachers who are resident in Australia and who agree to abide by the SYTA Code of Ethics and Code of Practice. Accredited level 1 teachers are able to apply for full SYTA membership using a simple application form during the transition period.
