SYTA Scholarships for the Vocational Graduate Diploma 2012

 

SYTA is offering five scholarship of $500 each towards the payment of fees for five elective modules offered by the Satyananda Yoga Academy (SYA) as part of the Vocational Graduate Diploma in 2012.

The electives concerned are:

SYAVGD803  Yoga Training for Frail and or Elderly Clients
SYAVGD804  Yoga for Clients Overcoming Drug and Alcohol Dependence
SYAVGD805  Yoga Training for Clients with Needs Relating to Depression and Anxiety
SYAVGD806  Yoga Training for Moderate Risk Clients Diagnosed with Cancer
SYAVGD811  Yoga Training for Overweight and Obese Adults

Terms and conditions:
Scholarship applicants need to be current full members of SYTA and need to have been  full SYTA members for a minimum of  6 months prior to completing the application. Applicants need to agree to maintain their SYTA membership for at least the duration of the module for which the scholarship may be granted. Applicants do not need to enrol in the full Vocational Graduate Diploma to be eligible for this SYTA Scholarship.

Current members of the SYTA Management Committee and any SYTA members involved with the preparation, teaching, marking or co-ordinating of the Vocational Graduate Diploma in 2012 are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Applicants may apply for more than one SYTA scholarship in any one calendar year. However, an individual may only be awarded one SYTA scholarship in any one calendar year. Applicants may reapply for SYTA scholarships in subsequent years.

The scholarship may NOT be held concurrently with any other award or scholarship offered by other organizations.

Applications MUST be received by the SYTA Secretary via email no later than  February 29th 2012. The secretary will confirm via e-mail once an application has been received.

Applications for SYTA scholarships will be considered by a panel consisting of members from the SYTA Management Committee and teachers of the Vocational Graduate Diploma. The panel will make recommendations to the SYTA Management Committee. In the event that there are no suitable applicants for a scholarship, the scholarship will not be awarded. Once the final decision has been made by the SYTA Management Committee, all applicants will be notified by mail as to whether their application has been successful. The SYTA Management Committee reserves the right not to grant a scholarship and the decision of the committee will be considered final and no discussions will be entered into.

If a scholarship is awarded, the payment of the $500 scholarship towards the fees for the particular module will be paid directly to Satyananda Yoga Academy once enrolment in the module has been accepted by SYA. The recipient of a scholarship must agree to undertake the study of the particular module during the year of 2012 . The recipient may not elect to defer the scholarship.

The recipients of the scholarships will be expected to write articles (within 3 months of completing the module) of around 1,000 words to be published in the SYTA newsletter. The articles will include an outline of the knowledge gained from the study of the particular module and how the recipient intends to use this knowledge for the benefit of the local and /or wider community.
