Chittagyanam

Description of topics:
Nada: I can run this as a 3 hr, 1/2 or 1  day or as a weekend workshop all of which I have done at either Gladesville, through Strathfield TAFE, Sytrec when it was in Bondi Junction or at Mangrove.
Combines theory with some of the Nada yoga practices (simple to intermediate eg bhramari,OM chanting, use of Gayatri mantra) and giving teachers the chance to experience several practises they do not usually have time/opportunity to do like Shanmukhi mudra (this only if done with plenty of time for them to ground and recover afterwards)and a Nada yoga nidra with Tibetan bowl resonance/chanting if time allows. Tools using sound vibration to incorporate into their classes for benefit of students. Can submit a plan depending on the duration required.
Pranayama, Mudra & Meditation for Healing (or individual components of this topic): Refreshing your Practise/Inspiring your Teaching. Preferably as a half or one day workshop including more in depth look at benefits and use of practises like Kapalabhati as shatkarma and pranayama & Bhramari as well as focusing on the breath as a tool for healing and release in asana practice; exploring trataka as a regular sadhana (benefits, precautions) leading in to a meta bhavana or chidakasha meditation as appropriate.
Women's Yoga
(for men and women)
Looking at not only the more Yin or nourishing asana, pranayama, meditation practices to calm, nurture, restore but also practices directly balancing hormonal (pituitary etc) imbalance, those useful for menopause...and those for strengthening kidneys, reenergising and connecting with sense of wellbeing to facilitate welldoing
Creativity:Incorporating other yoga styles into your class whilst maintaining the integrity of Satyananda Yoga
Looking at what is the essence of a "Satyananda " yoga class to protect and sustain the tradition (key features such as the emphasis on awareness, the balancing of a class in terms of time spent/structure/key elements(ie inc asana, pranayama, relaxation, feeling effects of practises, developing awareness and yoga nidra) whilst also being open to invigorate your teaching through use of other tools in the yoga toolkit such as experiencing asana with the use/awareness of energy meridians/pathways in TCM, the concept of Yin yoga and holding fewer practices for longer and using breath to release mental as well as emotional/physical obstacles/restrictions, safe use of chakras/chakra visualisation in meditation or yoga nidra, using sankalpa so students can get more out of your yoga class (eg at start and end- choosing a quality or key opening, distinct from their resolve during yoga nidra).

Jyotimitra

I currently have three workshops (or as I prefer to call them ‘sadhana retreats’) which I have designed and run a few times in various places:

(1)    “The Spiritual Woman: Ten Mahavidyas” (Women only.  Length: 3 days minimum to 5 days maximum)

At “The Spiritual Woman” gathering, we explore the spiritual woman within the framework of yoga and tantra, primarily focussing on Shakti - the universal feminine principle of energy, and ten Shaktis in particular - the Dasha Mahavidyas  (Ten Mahavidyas), ten Tantric goddesses or cosmic forms who embody Mahavidya (‘great knowledge’).  The key theme or purpose of the gathering is meditation on the Goddess as a form of self-inquiry.  The tools used are the Yoga practices of asana and pranayama and the Tantric practices of mantra chanting and yantra meditation - each practice relevant to the particular Mahavidya.

(2)    “Living Yoga: Ten Guiding Principles” (Length: 2 days)

The Yama and Niyama, the ten ethical principles that are the first two limbs of the eightfold path of Raja Yoga, as described in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, are the focus of this sadhana retreat. Among other things, participants learn (or have revision in):

·         how the yamas and niyamas are a key and essential part of authentic yoga practice

·         how the yamas and niyamas can positively help you in the stages and challenges of your life

·         how you can live your life in a more conscious, caring and compassionate way

·         how you can transform your personal behaviour, your interactions and relationships with others

·         and how SoulCollage®, an intuitive art form, can be used along with your yoga practices as a creative process of self-discovery and transformation

(3)    “Yoga Nidra: The Art & Science of Renewal” (1, 1.5 or 2 days)

An in depth look at the practice of Yoga Nidra for all those who have come to love this relaxation practice and want to know more about it and how the practice can be utilised in one’s life. Includes advanced yoga nidra sessions.
