Regular weekly classes combine
asana (movement, postures), pranayama
(breathing techniques), yoga nidra (a form of
relaxation/meditation), and/or seated meditation.
The asana
practices are not demanding. The emphasis is on the synchronisation of
movement with breath, a practice which assists the co-ordination of
movement, breath and mind - meditation in motion.
Pranayama
helps to retrain the breath and is a very important part of yoga
practice…breath is the link between mind and body…it is the vehicle for
prana, the life force. Learning deep yogic breathing is the
beginning of the journey into pranayama.
Yoga Nidra is a guided
meditation, practiced lying on the floor, which takes one out of the
mind, into the body and on into deeper realms of being.
Other Classes and Workshops
Half day workshops are held on more specific
aspects of yoga.
Yoga
works on many levels…it can be what you want it to be.
If you wish to manage stress, yoga is a wonderful tool.
If you wish to learn more about yourself, yoga can help you.
If you wish to make meditation a part of your life, yoga can be your
path.
Full Day Silent Retreats
A day to
consolidate your practices in a truly mindful and meditative way.
Remaining silent allows us to watch, more profoundly, the way in which
our conscious mind behaves.
The emphasis of these retreats is mindfulness...living in the moment.
You will be led through asana, pranayama and meditation practices,
with time to yourself for walking meditation, writing, reflection.
Points To Remember
-
Wear loose, comfortable clothing
-
It is best not to eat at least 2
hours before yoga practice
-
The yoga room is thickly
carpeted and there are cushions, blankets and meditation
stools for your use.
