Wednesday 9am - 1pm
Thursday 9am - 1pm
HYMC also offers yoga classes in workplaces, factories and
schools and outreach classes in Greater Hobart. We welcome
enquiries about customized programs designed for the needs
of particular groups.
In addition to yoga classes, HYMC regularly hosts special
events including workshops, retreats and seminars with local
and interstate experts on yoga. Kirtan (the singing of
mantra to music) is held frequently at the Centre.

Introduction to Yoga &
Meditation Package
This special package includes a five-week Intro to
Meditation from 8th October, followed by a five-week
Intro to Yoga course from 12th November. If you wish,
you can also enrol in either the Intro to Yoga
OR the Intro to Meditation course.
Introduction to Meditation
This five week course starting Wed 8th October teaches
simple meditation and relaxation techniques. Do as a
stand-alone course OR back-to-back with the
Introduction to Yoga five week course. Intro to
Meditation costs $60/$50 concession (or $125/$105 for
the ten week Intro to Yoga and Meditation package.)
Introduction to Yoga
This five week course from November
12th provide a “taster” of beginner’s yoga techniques
(Level 1 standard). Learn simple postures and breathing
techniques. No experience necessary. Do as a stand-alone
course, OR back-to-back with the five-week
Introduction to Meditation course. $75/$65
concession, or $125/$105 for the 10-week Intro to Yoga
and Meditation package.

Retreats and Special Events
CHANTING
First Saturday of the month 6:30pm, 4th Oct, 1st Nov, 6th Dec
Chanting is a part of the
culture of yoga. Join us for these relaxed,
informal evenings. Chanting will vary –
sometimes kirtan, sometimes the healing mantra (mahumrityunjaya),
sometimes both. These gatherings are also a good
time to connect with other yogis over a cuppa
and cake. No charge.

This two-day,
non-residential retreat will be
conducted by Dr Swami
Shankardevananda. Born in
Australia, Swami Shankardev is a
senior teacher of the Satyananda
Yoga tradition. He is an
authority on Yoga, Tantra and
Ayurveda. Swami Shankardev
presents the ancient teachings
in a way that is applicable to
modern Western life, with lots
of humor. The weekend workshop
will include practices as well
as talks. Early morning yoga
class and breakfast are
optional, and delicious
vegetarian lunch from Annapurna
restaurant will be provided on
Saturday.
