Full membership is open to all persons who teach yoga in the Satyananda tradition and who meet the SYTA
Membership Criteria (see below). Associate membership is open to persons and
organisations who do not meet the criteria but who do support SYTA’s aims.
Benefits of SYTA
Membership
Being a member of SYTA means you are part of a supportive
network of experienced yoga teachers interested in promoting yogic knowledge and
a yogic lifestyle. Support is an important factor in preventing teacher burnout
and in maintaining your motivation to teach. This support ranges from simple
affairs like social gatherings to the provision of important services such as
professional development seminars and a code of ethics.
SYTA's teaching members are automatically listed in its on-line
Teacher's Directory, providing an Email and
telephone contact number to members of the public looking for yoga classes.
Members are also entitled to their own page on the site, advertising their yoga
classes in more detail.
SYTA has negotiated favourable professional indemnity and public
liability insurance rates for its full members with OAMPS (note: Associate
members are not entitled to insurance through SYTA's arrangements). However, members must
arrange this cover with the Insurance broker themselves (i.e. membership does
not automatically mean you are insured). For further information, please contact
Jyl Hirsch at
OAMPS.
A SYTA newsletter, discussing topics relevant to teaching
yoga, is published quarterly for members.
