Kristina Nicklason (Karunamitra) met Yoga teachers in this tradition and began practising and spending time in ashrams from the early 1980s. She did a one year teaching course with Swami Muktanand Meanjin in 1995, began teaching in 1996 and completed the nationally accedited Diploma of Satyananda Yoga teaching in 2006. Kristina has over 20 years teaching experience including community group and private classes, yoga in schools, pre natal yoga, U3A yoga andshe has also taught in ashrams, including on the Satyananda teacher training courses.
Classes: She currently offers weekly classes at her beautiful strawbale studio in Western Creek, northern Tasmania and also at venues in Deloraine. Each class includes postures(asana) for increasing physical strength and flexibility; breathing practices (pranayama) for improving respiratory capacity, inducing vitality and the release of tensions,relaxation and meditation for enhancing mental clarity, focus and deep relaxation.
Retreats: Weekend, longer and personal retreats are offered at Western Creek. This 45 acre property has as its backdrop Mother Cummings Peak and the Great Western Tiers. The lovely Western Creek flows through the property. The earth-rendered strawbale Yoga room has been built as a sadhana (practice) space. Indoor accommodation is in our house or next door at Parvati: a spacious and very comfortable 5 bedroom house. For the outdoor lovers - paddock camping is available near the creek. The venue and facilities invite us to appreciate simplicity and enjoy the beauty of nature. Retreats are held approximately every 1-2 months often with renowned guest teachers. Private retreats are also offered.
