Seeking answers to her sincere questions about life, Atma, as she is affectionately known, was inspired to go deeper into the practices by her Satyananda
Yoga teacher in her home city of Perth, WA. Within months she had left Australia for India, to fully immerse herself in ashram life and service under
the guidance of her guru, Sri Swami Satyananda Saraswati. During this time, from 1979 to 1986, she was blessed to receive direct sannyas training with
her guru. She also gained a wide range of practical experience in many areas, including that of hand compositing some of Sw Satyananda’s classical
texts on yoga.
Upon her return to Australia in 1987, Atma directed and worked in Satyananda centres in NSW for the next four years.
In 1992 Atma returned to India to live with Sw Satyananda at Rikhia during his period of intense sadhana. During this time, she served in his mission to
uplift the living conditions and educational level of his neighbours in the surrounding villages.
Returning to Australia in 1996, Atma was appointed Director and Acharya of the Rocklyn Ashram, near Daylesford, Victoria. She continues with the mission
to uplift humanity through her dedicated service to all who walk through the ashram’s doors. As a senior Satyananda teacher, she teaches from a practical
perspective, with a strong commitment to facilitate the personal experience of the practitioner. Her focus is on equipping people with the tools necessary
for personal growth, thereby enabling them to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives.
Atma is highly respected and well loved by all who know her and is a mentor to many who seek ways of living consciously.
